Basecamp in friendzone

Momma said: Son, plenty of fish in the sea
You're always just a step away from a lover-to-be
But I'm a brown goldfish from the state fair
From the bag to the bowl to the porcelain chair

I'm nothing but a beast of burden,
But man, my back is hurtin'!
Take me home or leave me in the stable
But know I always try to get out when able

Come on, let's put up basecamp in the friend zone
Plenty of people, but don't worry, you'll feel alone
We've got wine and beer to drink and nights to spare
Spread some love, you'll get your friendly share

I'm riding a tandem bike by myself
Second helmet waiting on the shelf
I'm a pro at setting myself check mate
Something I tend to do on a first date

Solitaire is the only card game I know
And I always get the last ticket for the show
But momma said there's a girl out there for me
And making her smile would be the key

Come on, let's put up basecamp in the friend zone
Plenty of people, but don't worry, you'll feel alone
We've got wine and beer to drink and nights to spare
Spread some love, you'll get your friendly share
